BE PREPARED FOR THE CHANGE
What to bring with you?
- Info about your local community (if possible visual: postcards, posters, photos, basic information, if short presentation than maximum of 5 minutes, more important is that you are able to give basic info: yours community potential, main issues, topics, challenges).
- Info and materials about local initiatives you are involved in (organized by NGOs, non formal groups, specific actions).
- Music from your culture (cd, mp3), the one you can use for background of a nice dinner, and the one you can use for dancing!
- Food that is typical or special for your culture (to eat or to drink and share with other participants and local activists from the village we be staying at; something relatively easy to bring it with you).
- Recipes for some cakes, cookies from your culture which are relatively easy to cook and to get ingredients for.
- Legends and fairy tales from your culture – would be great if you could bring 1 page of story / fairy tale / legend in your language and English translation of it.
- Any traditional clothes if you have some available and you know how to play them.
- Any musical instruments you are playing, if of course they are feasible to pack them in the luggage.
- Some comfortable and warm clothes - we are planning a short trip to the mountains nearby, and we are as well planning to use pyjamas for some activities – so bring them with you as well.
And if you do not have any traditional clothes in your closet or you do not play any instrument – no worry, this option is for those which have those things easily available.
And small consultations before coming...
As inhabitants of the village we will be staying in are inviting us to their houses for different workshops we would like to bring a bit of our cultures to them threw a short common festival. And far we have the following ideas / proposals:
- Cooking together cookies / cakes form different courtiers / cultures (that is why recipes on the “to take” list)
- Teaching each other dances (that is why the music on the “to take” list)
- Playing games form our childhood
- Story telling at the fireplace (that is why the stories on the “to take” list)
- ….
But as we discovered from application forms we will have people with very different talents in the group we would like to ask you – if you have any specific idea for some kind of activity you would like to facilitate with the group, and you need for it any specific instruments, tools – please bring it with you if feasible, and let us know so that we can arrange what is needed and create space for it in the programme.
It’s our common workshop and we would like to create it together with you!
